Kenya wrote the template for the modern safari. The Maasai Mara hosts one of the world's great wildlife spectacles: a million wildebeest crossing from Tanzania between July and October. Amboseli frames elephant herds against the snow of Kilimanjaro. Tsavo, Kenya's largest national park, hides red-dust elephants and famous man-eating lion lore in a landscape that has barely changed in a century.

Kenya has two dry seasons and two wet seasons. The best timing depends on what you most want to see.
